Zoot Enterprises Gallery Features William Hawkins Hunter: Signs of Life

Exhibit features rich collection of paintings,vibrant collage and installation pieces

Bozeman, Mont – Zoot Enterprises Gallery announces the opening of a special art exhibition, William Hawkins Hunter: Signs of Life. The public is invited to view the exhibition Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. through July 19. The collection features recent works by the locally renowned artist, including paintings in acrylic and canvas, as well as collage and installation using non-traditional materials. Located within the corporate headquarters of Zoot Enterprises in Four Corners, Montana, the gallery is of museum quality with an expansive space designed to host major exhibitions.

Hunter describes his primary process as transforming individual images or objects into complex and meaningful compositions. His unique style showcases familiar images found on frequent trips to second-hand stores in Montana and across the United States. From primarily black and white paintings to powerfully vibrant collage and installation pieces dealing with natural subjects, Hunter's work is incredibly detailed – exposing layers of meaning depending on the physical proximity of the viewer. This experience reflects Hunter's belief in allowing each viewer to become complicit in the works' meaning and personal significance.

Displayed in Zoot's mezzanine-level gallery, patrons will be able to view Hunter’s work in an intimate, private setting at distances that enhance the display and perspective of each piece. Zoot Enterprises Gallery will host an artist's reception on Thursday, April 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The reception and exhibition are free of charge and open to the public.
