Zoot and CreditQA Team up to Educate High School Students

Six local high schools to offer "Facing Credit" in their curriculum during the 2007/2008 school year

August 29, 2007

Bozeman, MontZoot and CreditQA announced a partnership to provide a credit education course to high school students in Bozeman and the surrounding area. Zoot is a leading provider of advanced instant credit decisioning and loan origination solutions and CreditQA is a risk automation consulting firm for the financial services industry.

Can you name the U.S. National Credit Bureaus?  What is generally considered to be a good credit score? How do you go about getting a copy of your own credit report? How important is income in getting credit? Do you know the answers to these questions? You should. Zoot and CreditQA have jointly developed “Facing Credit”, a program designed to educate young adults about credit, credit reports, credit scores, and why being knowledgeable about your credit is important. “Facing Credit” is targeted at junior and senior level students. Six local high schools— Belgrade, Bozeman, Three Forks, Bridger Alternative, Livingston, and Manhattan — have signed up to participate. The credit education course is set to be incorporated into 20 classes during the 2007/2008 school year reaching an estimated 500 students.

"Manhattan High School is excited to have a credit education curricular unit available to our teachers and students. Credit is part of everyday life and most consumers do not fully understand the variety of credit available. It is important for students to understand how consumer credit works to avoid pitfalls and problems associated with credit to protect their financial well being. In this age of technology it also important to understand how to protect personal credit ratings and personal information from identity theft and other fraudulent activities. It is my hope that the curriculum provided by Zoot Enterprises will assist our staff in teaching this important information to all of our students," stated Bob Moore, principal at Manhattan High School.

“Our mission as educators is to prepare students for successful futures. We embrace any opportunity to partner with local businesses to provide real life educational experiences for our students. This program enhances our curriculum offerings and further integrates our school with the larger community,” said Craig Cummings, principal at Belgrade High School.

“Facing Credit” is sponsored by Zoot and CreditQA and offered free of charge to participating schools. "We're excited about the benefits of this program. Teaching students about credit is a great way for us to give back to our community. It’s a life skill that not enough Americans understand and it’s what we do every day," stated Larry Kahn, president and founder of CreditQA.
